Quality and testing analyst
Checking that what is produced is actually what was promised
What people in this work actually do
Take and prepare samples, run tests to a defined method, record and interpret results, identify and report deviations, calibrate equipment, and maintain documentation for audit.
This may suit you if…
You are meticulous, you follow a method exactly, and you are willing to say that a batch has failed when it has.
Repetitive and procedure-bound by design. There is commercial pressure to pass borderline results, and resisting it is the core professional duty of the role. Laboratory and factory environments, sometimes with shifts.
We show these because nobody else will.
What people get wrong about this
That it is a routine job with no judgement. Deciding whether a result is valid, and standing behind it, is exactly where the skill lies.
What this looks like in a smaller town
Food, dairy, pharmaceutical, water and construction-material testing all happen in and near smaller industrial towns, not only in cities.

There is almost always more than one route, and the cheapest is often perfectly respected.
